Description
The Seagull Trust (Now known as Seagull Trust Cruises) was founded in 1978 to provide cruises for disabled people of all ages, across Scotland. The three boats at Ratho are - St John Edinburgh, St John Crusader II, and Mackay Seagull. Canal cruises are provided for anyone with special needs by a team of trained volunteers.
On the 3rd of March 1818, the first ground was broken marking the beginning of the construction of the Union Canal. The canal, which navigates from the centre of Edinburgh to The Falkirk Wheel where it joins with the Forth & Clyde Canal, was designed by the engineer Hugh Baird, and supported by the great Scottish engineer Thomas Telford.
