Description
Dunbar Golf Club, Hole 12 - The Point, Stone Marker.
This is a difficult par 4 so be sure to aim for the marker pole and not the pin from the tee . A semi-blind drive aimed at the marker post sets up a long approach to a green on the very edge of the shore, with the rocky beach posing a constant threat down the right side of the hole. Putting on the exposed green can be awkward in a stiff breeze. A par is a great score!
With almost 400 years of documented golf at Dunbar. Only a few other Scottish golfing locations can date as far back. In 1617, just a few miles west of the town, one of the very earliest of golf references shows “gouffers” breaking the Sabbath laws and being reprimanded by The Kirk.
