View from the Johan van Valkenburgh Bridge towards the tropical greenhouses situated in the Old Botanical Gardens, Hamburg.
The bridge is named in honour of the Dutch military engineer (c.1575−1624) who built fortresses. He is known for building the Bastion Henricus which was a fortification around Hamburg.
The Wallgraben Lake, beneath the bridge, fills a portion of the valley of the old city moat.
