Description
Pine sawfly larva (Diprion pini). Fully grown they will reach 26mm in length. They are light yellow to yellow green and develop small black spot markings along the body. They have 3 pairs of dark thoracic legs, 7 pairs of short prolegs and 1 pair of anal prolegs. The head is small and brown.
They are considered a serious pest as the larvae eat pine needles and are capable of defoliating large areas of pine forest.
