Description
Ornate public drinking water fountain in Paris, France.
The fountain is a single pedestal with a square base decorated with bulrushes. Alternating panels display bulrushes and the coat of arms of the city of Paris.
The capital supports a decorative finial. The water is dispensed using a push button mechanism.
Known as the small model it is often found in parks and public gardens in Paris.
Originally designed by Sir Richard Wallace, a wealthy art collector and philanthropist who lived in France. After the Franco Prussian war damaged many aqueducts in Paris the citizens were in need of access to clean water - this was his solution to the problem.
