Ratho Marina built on the Union Canal, Ratho. This is part of the Living on Water initiative, which is developing residential and commercial moorings at key places along Scotland’s canal network. The marina is accessed across the tow path, via a swing bridge.
The Union Canal, known as the Edinburgh and Glasgow Union Canal, is a canal in Scotland, running from Falkirk to Edinburgh, constructed to bring minerals, especially coal, to the capital. It was opened in 1822.
It was reconnected to the Forth and Clyde Canal in 2002 by the Falkirk Wheel and is now used for leisure purposes.
Welcome! I am an Artist/Photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. My interests are wide and varied and this is reflected in my subject matter. I enjoy finding the beauty in even the most mundane subjects and the challenge of depicting the small details which are sometimes overlooked. Where possible, I research my subjects to give me a better understanding, which in turn allows me to adapt my approach to each one.
