Lilies are tall plants often fragrant and come in a wide range of colours and markings.
Lilium (members of which are true lilies) is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs, all with large prominent flowers.
Most bulbs are buried deep in the ground, but a few species form bulbs near the soil surface.
Many species are widely grown in the garden in temperate and sub-tropical regions. They may also be grown as potted plants.
Numerous ornamental hybrids have been developed. They can be used in herbaceous borders, woodland and shrub plantings, and as patio plants.
Some lilies, especially Lilium longiflorum, form important cut flower crops.

Welcome! I am an Artist/Photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. My interests are wide and varied and this is reflected in my subject matter. I enjoy finding the beauty in even the most mundane subjects and the challenge of depicting the small details which are sometimes overlooked. Where possible, I research my subjects to give me a better understanding, which in turn allows me to adapt my approach to each one.
