Gladiolus is a genus of perennial cormous flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae) .
It is sometimes called the 'sword lily'. They have sword-shaped leaves and one-sided spikes of brightly coloured funnel-shaped flowers and are a lovely addition to any garden.
